AIRPORT OPERATIONS HEALTH AND SAFETY

This program has been specially designed to prepare employees and the aerodrome for the build-up of traffic post-COVID-19.

Duration: Six (6) weeks

COST: US$250.00

COURSE OVERVIEW

Welcome to the Airport Operations Health and Safety course. This program has been specially designed to prepare employees and the aerodrome for the build-up of traffic post-COVID-19. The use of airside areas has been drastically reduced as a result of the pandemic. This has minimized the readiness of the airside infrastructure, facilities, equipment and systems for full operation. Therefore, the staff providing airside services must be re-trained, and adhere to health/safety protocols for the resumption of operations post-COVID-19. This course will examine the potential safety impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on airside movement and non-movement areas, security concerns pertaining to the breaches in COVID-19 protocols affecting the airport community, and the assessments required prior to and after resuming operations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On completion of this course you will be able to:

Understand the potential effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on airside safety

Understand the operations of an aircraft movement area
Describe the potential safety implications of a long or short-term reduction in the use of an aircraft movement area
Understanding the methods for checking and testing equipment, aircraft and aircraft movement areas for damages before and after restarting operations
Assessment of the effects of long and short term staff reduction on airport operation
Outline the preparations required to reinstate full rescue and firefighting operations after a full or partial shutdown
